Infrastructure and Physical Facilities

Classrooms and Laboratories

The institution has adequate physical facilities for teaching-learning activities. It has a green and eco-friendly campus of 73, 000 sq.mts on which building construction is 9738.84 sq.mts., which creates good learning environment. The infrastructure facilities are adequate in accordance with the prescribed norms of the statutory bodies.

Classrooms: The academic building-1 comprises of 28 classrooms, office, separate cabins for Principal and Vice Principal, separate staff rooms for gent and lady teachers, Girls’ Common Room, E- content Development Centre, Computer laboratory, IQAC, Examination Hall, Library, Seminar Hall, offices for YCMOU and NSS, Computer Laboratory and Language Lab. The academic building-2 has 10 Classrooms. The Vidnyan Bhavan (Science building) comprises of 15 well equipped laboratories for science subjects Physics (2) , Chemistry (5), Botany (3) Zoology (1), Geography (1), Physics/ Geography (1), Beauty culture (1), B.Voc. (1). The Indoor Sports Stadium also services as gymnasium, Yoga Center and for carrying out other indoor sports. Yashwant Study Club Competitive Exam Guidance Centre comprises of, 01 classroom, 03 reading rooms, 01 library and 01 IIC /YBIC. All 39 classrooms are ICT enabled. Out these, 17 are smart class rooms. 

Seminar Halls: Institution has one seminar hall of 300 seating capacity and one conference hall of 50 seating capacity. These halls are regularly used for conducting national/international seminars at the Institution. The students are promoted for active involvement in paper presentations, group discussions, etc.

Language Laboratory: Institution has language laboratory with 10 computers, headphones and required software is provided for acquainting communication skills among the students.

Science Laboratory: Institution has a separate science building (Vidnyan Bhavan), having 15 well-equipped laboratories for science subjects Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geography, Mathematics, Beauty culture, B.Voc. These labs are utilized for conducting practical classes as per the requirements of the curriculum. Labs are also utilized for technology learning & training as a part of teaching contents beyond the syllabus.

Central Library: Our central library is fully computerized by automating the issue of books with bar code reader through Vriddhi software. The library has 28543 books, encyclopedia, journals & periodicals, CDS, e-journals & e-books through N-list & DELNET covering all major fields of Arts, Science and Commerce. A separate reading hall is provided for students and staff.

Electricity Backup: The institution has acquired a generator of 40 KVA capacity and 12 KVA Solar PV systems along with Inverter/UPS facility in all departments.

Hostel Facility: The institution has two separate hostels, one each for boys and girls.  The intake capacity of each hostel is 200 students. The hostels have facilities like mess, solar water heater, R.O. water filter etc.

Canteen Facility: In the premises of the institution there are two canteens meant for students.

Institution campus is provided with First Aid Centre and Clean drinking water facility.

The  College  also  has  fire  extinguishers  that  are  maintained and  placed strategically  in keeping  with  fire safety  norms.

Computer Laboratory:  The institution has three Computer Laboratories meant for BBA (CA) and BBA programmes.  It has 21 computers, UPS, Printer, LCD projector, internet and LAN connectivity. This laboratory is utilized for conducting practical classes as per the requirements of the curriculum.

E-Content Development Center: Institution has well equipped e-content development center. It has facilities like, 75” smart board, PTZ camera, i5 computer, 42” TV, editing software, sound proof system, A.C., umbrella lights, mikes, etc. The center is utilized by faculty to develop e-content. The developed e-content videos are uploaded on institution’s YouTube Channel. Students are studying using this channel.

YouTube Channel: The college has a YouTube Channel entitled ‘ACS College Sonai’ with hosts e-Content Developed by the college. So far it has posted 197 videos which are benefecial to students, faculty and staff.

Internet Browsing: The students are provided an Internet Browsing Center with 10 computers, internet connectivity. Students are utilizing this center for online work, downloading notes, searching research papers, books, etc.

Wi-Fi: All academic buildings including Departments and their surroundings are provided with Wi-Fi with 24/7 internet facilities to the students and staff.

Sports

The institution hasa spacious and well equipped indoor stadium established in the year 2006 having facilities wrestling mat, Gym equipment, Table tennis, Badminton, Boxing kits. Yoga classes are conducted regularly from last academic year. The institution has outdoor sports facilities such as 200 and 400 Mtrs. Running tracks, Kabaddi ground, Volleyball ground, two Kho-kho grounds, two basketball courts, archery, swimming pool of size 25×13 meters and lawn tennis.  Most of students and faculty members are utilizing these facilities.

The physical director provides a proper training and encourages students to participate in various competitions organized at district, university, state and national levels. Institute provides T.A. and D.A. to students for participation in different sports activities which are helpful to increases their participation.

Cultural

Cultural Committee is conducting cultural activities and encouraging studentsto  participate  in  the  cultural  events  held  in  the  institution like annual gathering, Annual  Sports  Day, Navaratra Mohotsav, Shivjayati utsav etc.,  to  exhibit  cultural talents. Students  are  even  sent  to  other  colleges  for  inter collegiate  competitions  like  dances,  skits, mimicries, etc. The institution has open theater and a hall for the purpose of practicing and conducting cultural events.

Gymkhana and indoor stadium

A committee, consisting teacher and physical director, manages the activities of Gymkhana. The previous year’s sports champion of the College, if available, is the secretary of the college. In case of his non-availability, another student whose all round performance during the previous year has been found satisfactory is nominated by the Gymkhana committee as the secretary.

Training and required facilities are provided to the student playing outdoor games viz- cricket, volley-ball, kabaddi, kho-kho & indoor games like table tennis, badminton, carom, chess, etc. Students of the college have participated at national and international level.

Hostel

College has Boys hostel & Ladies hostel in the campus accommodating around 200 boys & 200 girls respectively.

Botanical Garden

The college has developed an independent & beautiful botanical garden. Various plants of rare type have been planted in garden. It is very much instrumental in teaching.

Audio-visual Aids

Audio visual aids have got paramount of importance in todays fast changing era of communication. The following audio visual aids are available in the college-

These aids are very useful in making the teaching more effective and meaningful.

Laboratories

The departments of Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Geography & Zoology have their own independent well equipped and advanced laboratories. Equipment and chemicals required for the student UG classes are available in the laboratories

Literary Associations

Literary Association (Marathi, English, and Hindi) has been established with an objective of achieving deep knowledge of these subjects. This association  organizes various lectures, workshop & departmental seminars.

Science Association and AVISHKAR

In the era of information technology and scientific temper, the study of fundamental science has become very significant. The association organizes various activities, educational trips etc. These activities are intended to make the teaching learning process more lively & meaningful.

AVISHKAR is project started by Savitribai Phule Pune university , Pune from 2007 to develop the research culture in the minds of students of higher education. Under the program students from any discipline and class have to choose a subject for his research with the help of his teacher in the college. After completion he has to present it in the seminar, whenever arranged by the University. He /she will get financial support from the University, if selected.

Commerce Association

The association works with an objective of making commerce more practical, relevant and comprehensive. The association organizes Lectures of the scholars, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, educational trips and commerce festival.

Competitive Examination Guidance Center

The center prepares students for various competitive examinations, especially For MPSC, UPSC ,LIC and Bank Examination by conducting coaching classes, etc. While studying the graduate courses student can appear for this examination.The Examinations are based on MPSC / UPSC Pattern.

Vidyarthini Manch

Special activities for girl students are organized trough the formation of interested group with a woman professor incharge of it. The emphasis has been on themes and issues relevant to girls in particular. As it is the part and parcel of our mission, the focus of interest is to make them self – reliant. The manch organizes guest lecture too.

Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik Study Center

The center has started B.A /B.Com. courses with a view of providing education to the unprivileged girls, boys & elders. A student aged 16 without SSC or HSC is eiligible to seek admission for the courses if they pass the preadmission test. The MBA course of YCMOU also has been started for the year 2009-10

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The college has a NSS unit. Students, who are really interested in doing social work, are welcome to join the college NSS unit. The actual enrolment, however will depend up on the University guidelines. The intake capacity is 300 students & for camp 150 students.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The college has a separate NCC unit for boys (50 cadet) & girls. All expenses on uniforms, kit, annual training etc. are borne by the government. Students are encouraged to join NCC where they get military training which enables them to join the regular army.

Board of Student Development 

This scheme started in the year 2000, under this scheme economically backward students work in various department of college & garden. Students have given a remuneration for their work. For girls under the “Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan” economic support & guidance, for their carrier is given. For poor students under the special guidance cell essential guidance is given.

Alumni Association

Alumni association is an important external appendage of the college. The executive committee has the principal as chairman. The association is actively involved in different academic & non academic programmes. The college invites its alumni to register their details with college office.

Students’ Council

The students’ council is formed in accordance with the provisions of the Maharashtra University act 1994. One of the teachers is designated as working chairman. The Principal is the EX-Officio chairman of the student council. One of the students of the degree college is elected/nominated as the university representative.

Group Insurance Cover For Students

The college has introduced a group insurance to the students of the college. The risk covered includes death, loss of limbs, total/ partial/ permanent disablement.

Swimming Pool

Olympic size swimming pool facility along with coaching is available near the college campus by paying nominal fees.

Soft Skill Development Program

The program of personality development in the era of LPG (Liberalization, Privatization & Globalization) is much more important. The student from rural sector may not compete without this. The skills are imparted to the students through this program which are commonly important. The program is run under the aegis of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune from 2007.

Placement Cell

The career guidance & counseling for preparation of competitive examinations, subsequently campus interviews are arranged & students are provided placements through this cell.

Elocution & Debating Competition

Taisaheb Kadam Intercollegiate debating competition is arranged every year. Cash prizes and trophy are awarded to the winners.
