Best Practice I: Collaborative Activity with MAESA Foundation, Pune for Environment Awareness and Sustainability

  • Goals:  

To create awareness in students about the environment as benevolent to mankind

To introduce concepts such as Environment Sustainability, Water Centric Sustainability, etc.

To foster pollution free environment and campus

  • The Context: In order to inculcate interest in environmental sustainability and promote research attitude in students and the faculty, the college has made collaboration with MAESA Foundation, Pune. MAESA Foundation is a registered organization with CIN No. U80300Pn2021NPL205481 under the companies act 2013 (18 of 2013). It is one of the leading youth forums for sensitizing students and public about the environmental sustainability. It is committed to creating awareness about the environment and health issues by imparting education and skills to young minds through the conduct of public campaigns, demonstration projects, seminars, workshops, training and capacity-building programmes.
  • The college is spread in a lush green landscaped area of 73, 000 sq. mts. There is enough open space with the landscaped master plan, greenery and fully ventilated spacious classrooms to accommodate students. The college adopted Moryachinchore Village for its development and carried out a large plantation drive in the nearby hilly areas of the village. It was realized by the college that along with physical activities, brainstorming sessions should be arranged in collaboration with MAESA, Foundation where experts in the field of Environment sustainability would guide multiple aspects of nature.
  • The Practice:

Evidence of Success: The success of the practice is evidenced by:

  • Appreciation of participant teachers and other stakeholders.
  • Around 1372 participants availed the opportunity of the activity.
  • Financial assistance from MAESA, Foundation for research activities.

Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

  • Availability of limited time for organizing the events outside the campus.
  • The college has made available its own funds for organizing this best practice.

Best Practice II: I am an Entrepreneur

  • Goals:

  1. To motivate students to start their own start-ups
  2. To provide all required information like innovation, intellectual property rights, company registration, market research, funding,  and procedures required for starting their own businesses through organizing lectures and events.
  • The Context:

It is observed that the UG and PG students have little or no knowledge about starting their own businesses. The college has an established Institution’s Innovation Council and Yash Business Incubation Centre, a decision was taken by the IQAC and CDC to start this best practice.

  • The Practice:

Under this Best practice, the institution organizes every year, innovation competition programme for students where students shall set up stalls to exhibit their products. The college also arranges lectures by experts from industries.

  • The institution has organized ‘I am Entrepreneur’ competition on 14th and 15th February 2020 in ‘Yashsharda’ the Annual Gathering of the college. This was inaugurated by the college’s alumni and entrepreneur, Mr. Prasad Bankar and graced by eminent personalities like Dr. Bhausaheb Gawali and Jaishritai Gadakh. In this competition, The students presented stalls where  Waste Plastic turned  Crude Oil machine, Waste Plastic Collection in College Campus using Machine, Agroproduct Packaging and Marketing, Mosquitto Killer, Digital Village, etc. were exhibited.
  • The students set up stalls for their own produce like Tandoori Tea, Amla Pickles, Amla Candy, Tutti Fruity, Papaya juice, etc. Apart from this, the stall of the dress material designed by the students of the Certificate Course in Tailoring and Fashion Designing has attracted the attention of viewers.  Students also exhibited handmade clay products such as Handi, Tawa, Water Jar, etc.

Evidence of Success: The success of the practice is evidenced by:

  1. Appreciation of the students by the parents and other stakeholders.
  2. Around   500 students availed the opportunity of the activity.
  3. Two of the students Miss. Chaitali Kshirsagar  and Rohit Adhav established a Startup, namely Lakshicon Bio-organics LLP and “Rescuer Solutions Pvt. Ltd.” respectively.
  4. A faculty of this institution, Shri. Mahesh Sitaram Jangale, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry of our college has registered a Startup Enterprise entitled “Shivswaroop Chemicals LLP”.
  5. The innovative activity was taken notice by the newspapers; Daily Sakal and Daily Pudhari.
  6. Sub-Divisional Officer Dr. Ajit Thorbole and Youth motivator Shri. Ganesh Shinde visited the stalls and appreciated the activity of the college

Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

  1. Shortage of funds limiting the scope of projects.
  2. The institution finds it difficult to cope with the overwhelming demand from students due to its limited facilities.
